Template:Modality
Appearance
About this template
Template:Modality sits at the top of every modality page. It adds the page to Category:Modalities and holds a few details about the modality for editors. It shows nothing on the page itself.
You don't usually need to add it yourself: pages created with the box on Spiritfold:Adding a modality start with it already in place (from Template:Modality/Preload).
Usage
{{Modality
| also_known_as = Other names, separated by commas
| traditions = Traditions or lineages it draws on
| related = [[Related modality]], [[Another one]]
| status = Proposed
| approved =
| next_review =
}}
Fields
| Field | What to put in it |

traditions |

status |
Where the page is up to: Proposed, In consultation, Approved or Under review. For editors' records only; not shown in the box. |
approved |
The date the description was first approved (e.g. 11 October 2026). Set by an approver. For editors' records only; not shown in the box. |
next_review |
When the page is next due for review. Set by an approver. For editors' records only; not shown in the box. |
None of these fields are shown on the page; they are kept for editors' records. Other names, traditions and related modalities belong in the page text. Approving a page means its description has been checked, not that the practice is endorsed. Which version readers see is decided by an approver approving it.
